Apartment Review for Arbor Park - Gainesville, FL

Arbor Park is the worst place Ive lived in Gainesville, and this is my fifth place in Gainesville. Yes the rent is cheap, but theres a reason. The apartment is old, but it is also built poorly. When the tenants upstairs walk around, you can hear every squeak creak and thud of their foot as they pound back and forth in the apartment (even when walking softly). The windows rattle as the people walk from half-way across the apartment. Ive had squeaking above me in other apartments, but it was never even close to this loud. You can even hear the snoring and snoring of the other tenants since the insulation in the ceiling is so poor. The noise will drive you crazy. Ive had to invest in earplugs to wear at night since not a night would pass without them waking me up. Even with the earplugs (32 decibel noise reduction), the noise still wakes me up on a constant basis. Since the majority of people living here are foreigners, they do seem to have different cultures. One of these happens to be not buying furniture for the apartment. Yes I know that it doesnt sound like your problem, but it is. Since they dont own it, they dont sit still in a chair for any periods of time. They just pace back and forth through the apartment the majority of the time theyre home. When they do sit down on the floor, its a loud thud that makes the light fixture rattle. Oh, and they also seem to not want to go to bed until 5-7am daily, and walk and talk loudly until they finally go to bed. (Im guessing its also their culture since I also see many other lights on in the complex till then) The windows also are poorly insulated too, you can hear every sound from outside. The noises outside range from peoples subwoofers blasting, parents yelling to their kids across the parking lot at 7:30am, kids screaming in the lot at 3:30pm, the foreigners playing Frisbee and soccer in the lot, being even louder than the screaming kids. You can also hear every firetruck and cop cars sirens as the drive down main street and 16th ave as these are their main travel routes, but thats the least of your problems. The insulation for temperature is also pretty bad, with large drafts coming from the windows and doors. The door frame seems to have shifted with age, and you can see light coming through the large gaps during the daytime Other than the noise, the place isnt all that horrible. But, the noise alone is enough to make me move yet again (and I planned on staying here another 2 years originally). When friends have come over to our place, theyve said What the ---- was that?! You have the worst apartment ever! How can you live here?! (all are actual quotes, many more also said, but Ill leave it at that) BTW, the management denies all structural problems with the apartment, since they would have to disclose this with future tenants. They stated that it is normal for apartments to have noise associated with them.
