Apartment Review for Boardwalk Apts. - Gainesville, FL

Been at Boardwalk for 8mths., lived in the 1bdrm loft. I liked the style: big upper-level window, spiral stairs, solid, wooden, bedroom-area rail, L-shaped countertop. On initial move-in had ceiling leak and earthworm problems due to the base of a wall crumbling, but issues were resolved in a reasonable time. The workmanship of the repairs were shabby, however, which deflated my opinion of the place. My disposal seems to always be on the fritz. The kitchen cabinets were too small to accomodate all my tupperware, plates, food, etc; and I'm not a kitchen person. In the cooler months, the air conditioning gets the upper area nice and toasty but the lower area stays cold. Cools fine in warmer weather. The new carpet sheds constantly despite vacuuming and the fibers may irritate your skin your skin if you sit or lay on it. Stuff gets on clothing too. A nuisance. Walls are ridiculously thin. The neighbors can hear your stereo even at low levels. I happened to be listening to some music at what I thought was a considerate sound level and fell asleep only to have a policeman knock on my door advising me that the stereo was disturbing my neighbors. This happened more than once! Your neighbors may be knocking on your wall or door to turn it down even at minute volume. Felt like I was living with roommates. Visitor parking lot can be a good walk away depending on where you are but new management stopped the towing service so now visitors can park wherever. Good rent: $525 increasing to $545.
