Apartment Review for Brandywine Condominiums - Gainesville, FL

Couldn't move in for two weeks due to a flea infestation that they didn't know how to fix (must VACUUM in addition to bug bombs). I should have used that as a warning not to live here, or the fact that one of the office secretary ladies appears nice but is absolutely absent-minded. After moving in-- there were no problems. On moving out, I was told that I couldn't put my furniture in the trash (never written in the contract)...and charged $30 punishment because I had no other choice. On top of that, they docked hundreds of dollars from the security deposit for painting and carpet cleaning. First of all, there were absolutely no stains in the carpet, and I vacuumed before leaving (and picked up the remaining pieces left behind). They had replaced the carpet before I moved in -so the only thing they could have done to the carpet to make it "cleaner" would be to vacuum it again??! In addition, when questioning about the need to paint my walls--they said there were dirt marks. $100 worth of "dirt marks." My recommendation: Take pictures before you move in. Take pictures after you move out and request the presence of a staff member to tell you what they want so you aren't left in shock when you get a negligible security deposit back. Take them to court if they do this to you. There's no excuse--and they need to be put in their place. The main manager lady plays nice at the start, but don't fall for her facade. Maintenance is great. Parking is great. Noice isn't a problem. Best of luck :)
