Apartment Review
Perks and cons

Starting at the main office and management. -The office staff may seem nice when talking to them, but most of the time it seems as though they have no idea as to what's going on. Half the time they pretty much lie to you just to get you out of the way. -The maintenance guys are good. They usually get all the jobs done in a timely fashion. We had our door kicked in, and they fixed the whole doorframe as soon as they could. -It seems as though management will try to get as much money out of you as possible. So try to keep track of your GRU bill on-line, and keep track of the checks you write for overages. I've had to go back a couple of times to clarify that overages HAD been paid. -Management randomly have "checks" done to your apartment, where they show up without notifying you. Don't exactly know if that's legal...I know that I don't like it when people just show up and go through my room without me knowing. I've gone down to the computer lab plenty of times, and was able to print once. Most of the time the printer doesn't work, nor does the internet on some of the computers downstairs. The gym was nice, especially if you don't want to go all the way to campus to go work out. Security guard or gate is a joke...It's more like a party type of regulator and annoyance. They put the bar down at the same time eveyday day late at night. Sometimes only for the weekend. So if someone wanted to come in, they would just have to show up a few minutes early. The bus route SUCKS between 5:00 and 6:30ish. The apartment itself is what probably any apartment is like in Gainesville. The floors get ruined easily if not maintained. Sometimes the bathroom smells funny in some of the rooms because of sink and shower drainage problems. Not to mention, sometimes I can smell what the person on the floor above me sent down the drain. (gross) The couch also isn't the most comfortable thing in the world (in phase 1). However, the apartment is pretty bright with the big windows, and with a little effort it can be kept up really nice. They have some decent pool parties here if you're into that. I wanted to move out, but figured I'd stay one more year, since my roommate was graduating, and it would have been a huge hassle to move. I regret it now, however. FORGET getting a good deal for being loyal, unless you know in OCTOBER (almost a whole year ahead of time) that you plan on renewing. Renewals get screwed! It's good for a one year deal, then move on and get a better deal somewhere else. I would only recommend this place for the good deals that happen almost two weeks before move in, otherwise forget it. Hope this helps a little. I'm sure you will find almost similar thoughts from others living here. |
