Apartment Review for Creeks Edge - Gainesville, FL

The land on which Creek's Edge sits is beautiful. However, it was until recently a decrepit apartment community. It was quickly transformed into the condos you see today. The workmanship inside the condos is a testament to how quickly this transformation took place (a cabinet door just recently fell off of its hinges, and the same cabinet started separating from the wall). The roof in my unit leaks, and it has been over a month since I've tried getting maintenance to fix it - no luck so far. I have been given the runaround, the retelling of which would take far too much time. Suffice it to say that most recently the phone numbers and emails listed as being for maintenance have been disconnected or the voicemail boxes are full. No amount of money is worth putting up with this hassle. . . . To continue with issues that make this a practically unlivable place: the washer/dryer combo that comes with each unit is worthless (the dryer takes upwards of two hours to do it's job and even then clothes still come out wet and wrinkled). This problem, based on posts to the condo message board, is not isolated to me. Most recently I am dealing with a sink that does not drain. Plumbers have been here two days in a row and have yet to fix the problem. Given that I only brush my teeth and shave over the sink, I wonder what could be wrong other than the developer, in a cost cutting measure, chose not to update the plumbing. Luckily I am only renting the unit from the owner. Unluckily, the owner is slow to respond to most maintenance requests.
