Apartment Review for Gables - Gainesville, FL

The Gables was a reasonably nice place to live for the first few months. Management was not particularly fast-acting, but they at least listened to my complaints and tried to get things fixed. Then the complex was sold. All of the amenities in my lease no longer exist. There was supposed to be security at the gate from 7pm to 7am. Now there is an old man standing around the 2"x4" gate from 10pm to 3am. The "business center" with wireless internet? Ha. Tanning bed? Even funnier. Every time I see the gate has been busted from someone inadvertently driving through the high security plank of wood, I laugh. I used to walk to get my mail at night. Not that long ago, I noticed two guys running in the complex, who quickly hopped right over the perimeter fence. Needless to say, I won't be strolling around alone at night around here anymore. The high rent used to be justifiable for the amenities and extra security of a "gated community," but now it is just a joke.
