Priced to sell, what you pay is what you get

I currently live in Greenwich Green and I am over all satisfied - when it doesnt rain. Safety is never an issue with me (I live in the middle of the complex so I dont just hop off the bus and run inside). The 12 bus runs SUPER frequently and youre the second stop on the Bus' route if you live here so you pretty much never miss your bus. Parking is not the best, but is suitable for the number of people who are supposed to live in each appt. Greenwich is a cute place, green and well groomed without being fake (its a plus that its not the scary kind of over grown R.L.Stine green that some places have going for them...) Noise level has never been a problem, but there have been a few parties (what do you expect, youre in GAINESVILLE). Pet friendly (for a price). There are a couple families that live here, but the kids are cute and harmless on the weekdays. The gym is small but serves its purpose, the office is open with residents schedules in mind (free printing and internet for those "oh shit my computer crashed" moments), and the pool/tennis courts are always open/brightly lit. Maintenance guys are super nice, especially when moving COUCHES up stairs (lol, they will try to avoid being seen by you during move in day for this reason). Now for the bad. Rent is somewhere around 340, which sounds great - but you REALLY have to get lucky with the appt. When I moved in there were SO many things wrong. The place didnt even look like it was cleaned, there was a mysterious water stain on the ceiling (wtf), and several things were broken/dirty. I highly doubt that the place was actually cleaned b/c the people before us still had their silverware and pizza hut coupons in the drawers! The bathtubs looked like dirty children or pigs were kept there and over all it was A LOT of unwanted work when I moved in. All of this would have been fine by me, a little elbow grease wasnt going to scare me away from SUCH A GOOD PRICE. But the window. The window of my unit is rotted through, it rotted to the point where if I am at school and it rains, I am afraid of what kind of plastery mess Im going to come home to be it on the carpet or on my curtains. Complaining to the office staff has yet to yield me any results which is irritating to say the least, but theres nothing you can really do to remedy rotten wood except tear it out and replace it. My storage unit was in shambles, the threshold ripped off and lightbulb/DOOR HANDLE missing. This was seen to by the maintenance staff within 2 months; after several trips to the office to remind them that I couldnt USE my storage if I couldnt lock it. Over all, this is a very nice place to live if you get lucky with the apartment. Layout is nice (for the townhouse at least), area is GREAT (right next to publix AND UF), and perfect for those relying on the bus. My only warning is CHECK OUT YOUR SPECIFIC APARTMENT BEFORE YOU MOVE IN. If you cant then as soon as you move in, CHECK for EVERY nook and cranny and document EVERYTHING wrong. And promptly get on their case about it. Constantly. Good Luck! |
