Apartment Review
my 13 day experience
Review Date: 8/18/2005

the place is a mix of students, young couples, small families, and of course ACRs. it might appear ghetto to a suburbanite, but it's not... holly heights is ghetto. people act very cordial... smiles and hellos. dog owners clean up after their pets. anyway, i moved into a 1 bedroom aug 5 2005. it's now aug 18 2005. i can't sleep in my bedroom b/c the cat urine on the carpet was not adequately taken care of. (they steam-cleaned, but that's not good enough when it comes to cat urine.) the place smells sour. they seem unwilling to replace the carpet in the room, which already has nasty stains... one with some kind of residue. the staircases don't have treads on them for when it rains. the lighting around the staircases is dangerously insufficient. i reported my outside porch light and one of the indoor sockets malfunctioning on the 9th and it has yet to be fixed. their pest control is awful. one day i saw a huge roach on my wall. 15 min after i caught it another one is crawling on the opposite wall. there's a gecko that lives in my bathroom somewhere. and another one that lives somewhere in the living room. moths and beatles appear at random. and there's a wasp's nest 2 ft from my front door that i was assured would be removed the next day, and SURPRISE it's still there. water isn't completely included. you have to pay $20 in addition to rent for it. the singles are more spacious than student suites and most other singles i've seen around. there are much nicer places to live, but the space is always much smaller for the same (or higher) price. and if you have a pet you're options are limited.
