Apartment Review
Decent Apartment, Horrible everything else.
Review Date: 9/16/2007 Reviewer: Anonymous
I lived here during my freshman year at UF in a four bedroom apartment (in building 21). General Summery First off You have to fight with management if you don't want to get screwed(more on that later). The apartments themselves are alright, if you fight for a good one. The high noise level and thin walls were annoying, but tolerable. Maintenance is however suprisingly good. The price was also a pretty low. The Bad 1. You have to fight to get what you paid for. On move in Day they tried to put me in a filthy run down apartment, that already had a party animal/drunk living in it. I had to spend about an hour fighting with management before they assigned me to a "non-crackhouse looking" apartment. 2. Bad residents. Melrose doesn't seem to care who its residents are. A lot of its residents are people whom you wouldn’t want to associate with and who are well on their way to being (community) college dropouts. Did I mention ½ of the residents go to a local community college? Personal experience: horrible roommates my roommates were community college students, who’s chief reason for going to college was to get away from their parents and party/be drunk/be stoned? 3. Crappy location. To get to UF you have to endure a long and congested ride (20-minutes by car 30 by bus). This is going to get worse as several large developments that are being built in the area near completion The Good Speedy Maintenance Two pools Nice gym Decent sized rooms If you don’t mind a long commute move in with friends you could enjoy living here, provided you luck out and get a decent apartment or argue that the original apartment management wanted to give you is so dilapidated that it not only violates the “conditions” section of the contract, but also violates a health ordinance or two. |
