Apartment Review for Melrose Apartments - Gainesville, FL

I have lived at Melrose for almost 3 years now and I have only had minor problems. The first year was fine except we had a lot of roaches. Of course, pest control doesn't do much unless you know where the bugs are coming from. (By the way, check your bathroom pipes to see if there are any holes between the pipe and the wall. They usually come from there. I recommend covering it up with steel wool and spray the wool with bug spray. It reduces 75% of the bug problem.) My second and third year have been fine with the exception of upstairs neighbors who are inconsiderate and have no respect for anyone living in the same building with them. Also, the security officers don't really help. When you really need them, you can't reach them or they don't answer the phone. Don't expect them to help you out when you have a noise problem. All in all, if you are not under 21, light sleeper, get annoyed easily, and can't stand people who party until 5am on a weekday- this is not the place for you. I would only recommend this place for first time apartment renters who are just starting college.
