Apartment Review for Pine Rush Apartments - Gainesville, FL

I am a grad student and I moved to Pine Rush because I thought it was quiet, full of other grad students and families, and safe. Well, it's quiet . . . but that is about it. My first night in the apartment I had someone pounding on my door at 3 or 4 in the morning for several minutes. I had no idea who they were and I was terrified. Also, during heavy rains the water comes in under my front door. I told the office about it and they didn't send someone out until the next afternoon (I reported it the day before around 3:30 p.m.). The rug outside my front door has been stolen. The plants that I bought and planted outside my windows have been smashed and torn up by the roots. Sketchy people ride their bikes through the parking lot. It looks like they are canvasing the place. Furthermore, sketchy residents sit outside their apartments in busted plastic lawn chairs (keep in mind we have no patios/balconies). This place doesn't have real air conditioning. They just have one unit built into the living room wall (like some hotels) that is supposed to cool the kitchen, living room, and bedroom. It doesn't. I have set up an elaborate fan system to try to blow cool air into the bedroom. Even in the living room, the temp. never gets below 79 degrees. I really actually enjoyed dealing with the office staff. One woman in particular is always happy to see me and takes care of things quickly. At least that is the way it used to work. I have seen her lately when I've gone in to pay rent. The bottom line is: the cheap rent attracts a handful of poor grad. students and a how lot of low class, skeazy weirdos. I totally believe the other post of cars and apartments being broken in to. I am breaking my lease to leave this place.
