Apartment Review for Spyglass Apartments - Gainesville, FL

I lived in a 3 bedroom, 3 bath apartment for a year. At first sight my only problem was that the apartment wasn't very clean. My roommates and I spent much time cleaning the bathrooms and kitchen, but it wasn't a big deal. And there were a few spots on the carpet, but we didn't want to complain. The year went on and everything was fine. Spyglass probably has the best maintence staff, everything was done quickly and efficiently. For the most part we didn't have any problems, but then we moved out. My roommates and I went seperate ways, and a few days after our move out we got a letter. They said we owed them $400. It was the most ridiculous thing ever. They were charging us for a carpet replacement, which my roommate worked for CMC at the time we were living there and knew that our carpet hadn't been replaced in 8 years. They charged us for 'overall cleaning' which is crap considering the condition they gave it to us in. We were also charged for a painting, which is insane. We didn't have much of anything on the walls, and I know we didn't leave any marks. And when we went to go argue the letter they told us that they couldn't speak to us about it at all, and that we had to write a letter to the corporate office. The whole situation has been ridiculous, and I would not recommend Spyglass, they're kind of expensive, and not all that nice.
