SECURITY ISSUES!!!
Review Date: 8/12/2010 Reviewer: Anonymous
BE CAREFUL, THERE IS A THIEF AT THE LANDINGS!!! My son returned to his apartment on 7/30/10 to clean out his apartment and discovered his 1-year old flat screen TV had been stolen from his apartment at the Landings. He was last there on 7/1/10 to pay his rent and knew it there as he sat there watching it. On 7/30/10, he called the management office to let them know he would be arriving the next day to pay his final rent payment and was told if he did not have his property out of the apartment by 12 noon THAT DAY, they would put it out on the sidewalk or charge him $150 PER HOUR if he did not vacate the premises. After a call by myself to Michelle in the management office to inform them he was on his way and that this type of intimidation was not legal or warranted, it was agreed all would be fine if he got there by 2:00PM. When he arrived about 1:30 PM, much to my son’s surprise, the cleaning people were already in his apartment when he got there and the TV was gone. The police were called immediately and they noted there were no signs of forced entry into his apartment. There was also a “clean and clear” outline of where the TV had been. If you go to the website, http://p2c.gainesvillepd.org/ and click on the “Search for Events” tab, enter the Landings address, 3801 SW 13th St, Gainesville, FL, you can search for past incidents. In the past year, there have been 6 burglaries and 4 vehicle\bicycle thefts with a disturbing amount of these occurring around the time that school is out of session. I contacted the management to try and work out some type of agreement (just replace the TV!) and, after 2 weeks, I finally had to contact the regional manager, Diana Miner, who declined to offer any type of compensation. She was informed only my son and his roommate had keys and his roommate had cleared out his property when school let out, and my son did not steal his own TV! I am writing to inform all potential customers and parents that they need to consider the safety issues surrounding this apartment complex if they plan on taking up residence at The Landings. |
